Colorado, The President, and More
So two weekends ago hubby and I went to Colorado for the weekend. We flew out on Friday morning and came back on Monday night. I tried my hand at snowbaording - I'm definitely not a natural. I actually quit in the middle of the lesson because I couldn't take falling one more time. I tried again after lunch and made minimal progress. I will try again in the future! We also took a scenic snowcat tour up the mountain - that was fun and low key and came with gorgeous scenery! We decided to see a movie on the way to the airport - the only thing playing was Watchmen so we thought "what the heck." What the heck indeed! Strange movie. Way too long. Way too many rabbit trails and a little too much unnecessary gore. Then we came home to the craziness. It was very nice to spend the weekend just relaxing. It was a much needed rest for both of us I think.
Last week the girl child's school had their jog-a-thon. After last yeas debacle I was afraid of what would happen this year. Last year she absolutely refused to run one lap. She claimed she was scared of Wolfie - the mascot. So I made sure she knew it was a person in a costume and that the person in the costume this year was someone she knew and loved. So she high fived him as she ran by - 20 times! That's over 4 miles in 45 minutes! That's pretty darn good for 7 year old legs if you ask me. Not only that but she managed to do it without breaking a sweat!
Yesterday, I got up at 5am, got dressed, walked the dog and went and stood in line with hundreds of other people to try and get tickets to the President's town hall meeting that he's holding close to my home. Unfortunately based on some bad crowd control by the sheriff's department and a bit of bad luck, I didn't get anything for my time. Well, I did get a sunburn but that was about it!
Not much else going on here. I'd really like to take the kids to Disneyworld this summer. I'm working on making it happen. My sister said she'd come housesit and dogsit so that makes it easier to leave at least! I've got a travel agent working on trying to find us a deal - not sure if it'll happen since Disney extended their "buy 4 nights, get 3 nights free." It seems like it's harder to get a room. We'll see. We can always go later in the summer and get another kind of deal rather than that one.
Now I've got to go run some errands.
Only 109 more days until my birthday. And the kids only have 11 weeks left of school after this week!
