Makes Sense . . .

I know people who will say "oh that's a bunch of psycho babble" but I know without a doubt this guy is right.

I ran across the "emotional healing wizard" online - he talks about how to get rid of your depression. He said depression starts because you don't allow yourself to feel things and so you end up at the bottom of a hole with all of those thoughts and feelings that you won't let yourself feel holding you down.

The only way out of the hole is to let those feelings be felt and let them pass through you. But you have to let them pass through you without shame, without pity, without judging yourself, without attaching a story to them. There's the hard part for me - I know exactly the things that I won't let myself feel, but they all involve "buts" - but so and so did this, or but then so and so will get hurt, or "but there's no way to fix it," or "there's no way to do things differently," or "but I'm stuck in this place and can't get out," - so I've got to learn to acknowledge them without judgement, pity, shame, or attaching a story to them.

I'm going to start a list of the things I need to feel. But not right this minute, I've got to get up the courage to face them first. ;-)
