Summer is winding down . . .

Unfortunately the heat is going nowhere! YUCK!!!

Only 3 more days and the hooligans will be going back to school. I'm dreading it and looking forward to it all at the same time. DS gets irate whenever I mention school and unfortunately his attitude has rubbed off on dd a bit. She was excited about starting K but now she's doing the "I don't want to go" thing too. UGH!! I don't want her crying on the first day of K - that just irritates the teachers and I didn't have a chance to talk to them about her because we missed the testing being in NY. If they knew she is just shy and stubborn and takes some time to warm up and has been to preschool for 2 years they'd be less irritated by her pouting I think. So I'm praying hard that she is happy that morning and will leave without clinging to me! Please Lord let it be so!!

I'm dreading homework - ds and I fight about this every single night Mon-Thurs. I'm praying hard that this will be the year that turns around - please Lord let it be so!!

I officially started my job as Children's Coordinator at the church and I'm kind of frustrated. I had a pretty stressful morning. It seems like no matter what I do, somebody's got an opinion on how it should be done that does not match whatever it is I'm doing. I'm already tired and it's only been one official week.

One of my 3rd-4th grade teachers quit, which wasn't much of a problem really. She needed to go. But we did promotion today and my 1st and 2nd grade teachers had NO students. And based on their roll sheets it'll be days few and far between that they'll have more than 1 or 2. I don't want to waste their talent or their faithfulness to the Sunday School program. So I decided to split the kids into 1-3 and 4-6 and move the other 3/4 teacher up with the 5/6 teacher - who is by himself with a bunch of girls and I didn't think that was appropriate either. Well the 1/2 and the 3/4 teachers all loved the idea. The 5/6 teacher wasn't happy about it. I told him about them only having 1 student and he said "well, we've been there before!" That doesn't mean we should go there again - that's no fun for the kids either! *sigh*

The good news is I have children's church covered so that I don't have to worry about that too much anymore. But the person who I asked to take over the 3rd Sunday chose to complain to me about having 3 separate people doing children's church because there's no consistency for the kids that way. She might want to do it all the time next year but not right now she will just do the 3rd Sunday. Well then don't complain to me! *double sigh*

I don't like to rock the boat and make people mad, but I really am going to have to check my personal feelings at the door when I go there now. I have to do what needs to be done right now for the jobs to get done and the kids to have the best experience possible and I can't make everyone happy - I'll have to stop making it my job to do so.

I guess I just need to make sure that God is happy with the ideas I've got right now and forget everyone else.

Then after all that I went to pick up dd from her class and there's a Mom in there throwing a fit that her ds colored a sponge bob picture and it's not a good Christian cartoon and they should know it's not a good Christian cartoon and they shouldn't be having the kids color those kinds of pictures and she refuses to let the boy take his picture with him. Now I'm not thrilled with the fact that they were coloring sponge bob at Sunday School - there are lots of coloring books out there Christian related that would be much more appropriate for church. But I do have a HUGE problem with this Mom ranting and raving in front of the worker and the children in that manner. If you have a problem you go to that person quietly and state your concerns. The worse part was she's on the worship team so that makes her in a bit of a leadership roll at the church and to rant and rave in front of all the kids, parents, and workers that were standing there was just not ok in my book. And all of that after the pastor talked about loving people and how we should treat people with love - guess that all went in one of her ears and out the other today! *triple sigh*

Man I did not know what I was getting into when I took over this job. What was God thinking giving me this position - I feel even less equipped now than I did when I said yes. More time on my knees is needed I believe!
