Thanksgiving already?

How can next week be Thanksgiving? I am in such big denial!! Of course it being a thousand degrees in Southern California doesn't help put you in the fall holiday mood.

Things are moving along here. I think I'm really starting to enjoy being at home. I've had some time to start getting some things organized - it's taking a little bit longer than I'd like but I've resigned myself to the longer process and now I'm less stressed out about getting the house in order. I can see that eventually it will be done.

Looking at my next few weeks it's going to take even longer than I thought - but oh well. I have a loose goal of having the downstairs done before Christmas but am not sure I'll make it. The kids have a lot of days off - all next week, and the week after that I've got to be at the school 3 times for art, plus I need to start Christmas shopping and then there are a few things I was going to help with at the middle school too once the kids go back in December. So we'll see if the downstairs gets done - the biggest job - the kitchen is 1/2 a shelf away from being done! YEA!!

My family has started the drama about Christmas and I'm so over it. I hate all the back and forth so and so isn't talking to so and so, etc. If we were rich I'd take the kids and dh somewhere for the full two weeks they are out of school and do Christmas in some exotic location and forget the rest of the family! Right now we don't have plans for Thanksgiving - which is good and bad.

School is going ok for the kids. DS is trying his best and his grades are pretty good right now - all A's and B's which is totally fine with me!! DD is still not doing her best but I'm over it. Her teacher is very negative and is driving me crazy - he never encourages dd, he is always saying something negative to her. The homework is frustrating the heck out of me - some days we spend hours dealing with. Thankfully today wasn't one of those days! YEA!!

I've got to make a holiday shopping list and start shopping - I'd love to be done as soon as possible but I've got to get started first!! I can't believe it's coming up so quickly and I would like to relax and enjoy the season! I think it'll be much easier to relax this year since I'm not working and am not obligated to go to a billion Christmas parties on top of everything else invovled in the season.

Not much else is going on here - the same things all other families are dealing with - school, holidays, life.
