FRUSTRATED!!

That's me lately - frustration! It is running high around here. Frustration with the kids for acting like I have three heads whenever I tell them to do anything; frustration with dh for his grumpy attitude; frustration with my house for it being to small for a husband, a wife, two kids, a rabbit, a bird, two fish and everything that comes with all of those people/animals; frustration with housing prices that make me stuck in this too small of a house; frustration abounds!!

Frustration leads to short temperedness and that's not good for anybody!!

Tomorrow is another day!

And only 8 days until school starts and the hooligans are out of my hair some during the week!!

Sick!! :-(

DD is sick! Poor little thing. Bronchitis. I feel horrible because I was going to call the ped on Tuesday and didn't. Hopefully she'll be on the mend quickly now that she's got some antibiotics in her system!

What a way to spend the last week of summer! I'm hoping DS and the rest of the family don't catch it. That would NOT be fun!

We don't have much planned for our last week of summer. One more trip to the Land of the Famous Mouse next week. DD gets to have lunch with the princesses for her birthday. What more could a princess ask for?

Useless

This blog that is! I seem to be horrible at remembering to blog about my life. Maybe it's because my life is just that boring!

Although really life has been pretty interesting around here - we got evacuated off of a ride at the amusement park with the famous mouse. DS thought that was the coolest thing to happen to him in his short little life. We weren't in danger or anything so I guess it was pretty cool. Hey, how many people does that happen to a year? Thousands? ;-)

We still haven't visited those museums I wanted to visit - well we made it to one. And we've yet to step foot on the train. There's still one more week before school starts so all is not lost.

I can't believe the summer is over. Why does time have to go faster as you get older? It seems a cruel joke of life for time to go so slow when you're young and want it to speed up, and time to go so fast when you're old and want it to slow down!

13 days and counting and the new school year begins!

Only 8 days later . . .

and he's a fish!

We started 2 weeks ago with swimming lessons for both kids. DS knew the logistics of swimming but didn't really get how to do it. On top of that he refused to swim in water that he couldn't stand up in. But after 8 lessons he has passed the level I class and is ready to move on to level II. The best part is that now he's swimming all over the pool. He's feeling confident in the water and that is a HUGE deal. Considering he was a kid who always hated getting his face wet and up until two weeks ago would not get in the water without a snorkel mask so that water wouldn't get into his nose! Boy what a difference 8 days makes!

DD on the other hand is another story. She already was a fish and loves the water. BUT the instructor let her go a little too long on Wed. without helping her up for breath and she's a bit gun shy now. Wouldn't swim yesterday or today really. I'll be spending the weekend forcing her into the pool to swim a little ways so that she remembers "oh yea, I know how to do this."

It's too bad the classes are full for the next two weeks - or maybe it's not. Sitting at the pool for two hours a day does get old. Although I have gotten a lot of reading done!

Now we can plan some fun things for the rest of our summer. The museums that have been calling our name, the train ride we were going to take and haven't yet, visiting the theme park with the famous mouse some more, and just some more hanging out at the pool and the beach without a care in the world!

80's rock

So DH and I have been married for 14 years now. WOW! Nobody who knew us then would have said that we'd last this long. Not because of how we were but because of our age. We were babes in toyland when we got married - but marriage agrees with us obviously!

We spent the evening after dinner just wandering around. Went to a certain electronics, gaming, music store that has a yellow tag and bought some 80's rock CDs. My kids got in the car this morning and said "cool, some rock and roll" - followed by "finally!" from my DS. I usually only listen to the Christian music station in the car - not because I care if my kids hear music other than Christian music but because you never know what the DJ's are going to say and THAT I don't want my kids hearing.

But you can't go wrong with 80's rock!!

If you see a Mom driving down the road with her two kids in the back dancing in their seats - that's me and my kids enjoying our new music!

Cruising along . . .

Life is just cruising along. We've got our normal summer activites - swimming lessons, baseball, visiting a famous theme park that involves a famous mouse. We actually got to ride the teacups with the Alice in Wonderland characters! DD was beside herself that Alice was in the tea cup right next to ours - along with the Mad Hatter!

The hooligans are mostly behaving. I think because they realize the summer is coming to an end and they need to quit wasting it bugging me. Can someone tell me how it came to be August already? I swear it seems like school just got out. DH said today he was ready for school to be back in session. He takes DS to school and he likes the routine of it. I told him to wash his mouth out with soap! ;-)

DS actually said he's ready for school too. I guess that's good - at least he won't be putting up a fight when that first day rolls around! We received all of our standardized test scores from last school year in the mail today - and we found out what we already knew - we have a smarty for a son. I didn't need a standardized test to tell me that. It can be my proof to everybody else that I'm not just a bragging Mom - he really is smart! heehee

DD is smart too - but she isn't having to take standardized tests yet, so for now everyone will just have to continue to take my word for it!

I hope I'm not one of those obnoxious Moms who goes around bragging about every little thing her kids do. You know THOSE Moms - the not bragging in an "I'm proud" way but a bragging in "my kids are better than yours" way. Because really my kids are very smart (they get it from their Daddy - not that I'm stupid or anything either!) - but I certainly don't think they're better than somebody else's kids. Hey they've got their issues. DD never will get dressed in the morning - or any other time a day - nobody would believe me if they knew how many times a day I threatened that child to take her naked someplace!! And DS has a mouth on him that never quits!!

But I still like them pretty well. And really they are very smart!! :-)

Halfway through the weekend . . .

and things are as usual.

Kids mostly behaving themselves except when DS thinks he needs to comment on everything DD does. Leave her alone already!!

Saturday was spent running around town and watching DS play baseball.

Not much else happening.

Now it's Sunday and DH is making lunch (he's such a sweet guy!) and DS is playing quietly on the stairs and DD is in her room. That crazy kid was up from 12-5 this morning - nobody knows why. Even she doesn't know why! I give her about another 2 hours before she melts down completely!

I'm an idiot.

Or so it seems! I just lost my last post. I guess it's going to take some getting use to this blogging thing.

I've been reading other people's blogs who I don't even know just for the heck of it. Then I thought, "hey, I could do that." Might as well have a record of your life somewhere for posterity, huh?

And this way there's no paper cluttering up my house - well ok, there still is paper cluttering up my house but at least I'm not adding to it!

The hooligans played by themselves for about an hour this afternoon - just what the doctor ordered to keep their Mom out of the loony bin. DS built a pretty cool ship out of lego's - he could grow up and be an engineer no problem. DD spent the afternoon playing dress up - she can grow up and be a princess no problem. Well, actually she says she's going to be a doctor but I guess a princess could be a Doctor, right?

TGIF!!! We'll see what the weekend brings!

Here they go again!

Why do they have to drive each other crazy - which in turns drives me crazy? Really. I think I will be put in the loony bin if I have to listen to "she xxxxx" or "he xxxx" one more time.

Do they serve chocolate in the loony bin? I wouldn't mind being in the loony bin if I could have chocolate. Can I watch tv there too? A tv and some chocolate in the loony bin actually sounds like a nice little vacation right now.

Yea, I think I'll go start calling loony bins and see what it takes to get a vacation there. I'll be back to blog some more of my boring life after I see if the loony bin will take me.
