Boring

My life seems to be pretty boring. We just plug along with our days doing what needs to be done. Sometimes I wonder what it is I'm suppose to be accomplishing - what's the big picture that I'm missing?

Today was one of those days - just running errands, fighting with ds about homework, taking the kids to basketball - just stuff. I don't know what I want - maybe just to quit watching life pass me by.

I shouldn't blog when I'm feeling exhausted - it's depressing!!

I love to read other peoples blogs - they are usually funny and creative and informative. My blog is like my life - boring!!

So for anybody who's out there reading - sorry to bore you!!

Sick!!

BLECH!! DD has been throwing up since 2:26am (but who's counting!)

The kids had off of school today so I guess it's a good thing she got sick today. Although I couldn't help but think that today was the day I was suppose to be at the all day staff meeting and dh was suppose to be home! Not that I mind dealing with my daughter while she's sick, but she just keeps whining while throwing up "I want Dad!!" Sorry, kiddo, you ALMOST had him for the day!!

We had planned to go to the movies today so she was sad about that. I told her we would go a different day. Told ds we would go on a different day too. New goal date is Thursday, there's a 3:10 movie and I've got a 5:45 meeting. I think we could still pull it off. Our other option is straight from school for the 1:50 movie - which if I Fandango could work out for us. We'll see.

I'm just hoping dd's throwing up is a result of her normal every few months need to throw up and not something the rest of us are going to catch!!

Today is Martin Luther King Day also. We don't usually do anything to celebrate this day, mostly for lack of knowing what we would do. I did find myself thinking about him this morning though and wondering how things would have been different had he not been killed. Did his murder put fire under the cause or would the cause have had more fire with him fueling it? I'm happy that my children don't live in that world. I know there are still people out there who are prejudiced against others, but my kids haven't really experienced those type of people. My kids go to a school that has every ethnic group you can imagine almost - they each have friends of all different races and backgrounds. I like it this way!

OK, enough rambling, time to get dressed while there is a break in the vomit.

*sigh*

So you had a bad day . . .

Is the song running through your head now??

Yesterday must just have been a bad day! DS is MUCH happier today. I think last night he must have just released all of his stress from the last few months plus the stress of moving classrooms.

Today he has been an angel!! Totally pleasant to be around, pleasant to me, pleasant to his sister.

I talked to the teacher and found out the entire story about the math frustration and hopefully that's all worked out. He was missing out on a LOT being in that other class. So today I'm back to thinking I did the right thing.

Hopefully it continues that way!!

Did I do the right thing?

DS started in his new class today. He was a holy terror all afternoon/evening. I don't know if I did the right thing and I can't change it now. Lord, help me!!

He seemed to have a good day and was telling me what they did, etc. He was a bit bummed that he was struggling with the math - which I told him would hapen - they're several lessons ahead! So hopefully he'll remember to bring his math book home tomorrow so he can catch up.

He told me he said to the teacher at one point "I'm not getting this" and her reply was "I don't have time for you to not be getting it." *sigh* How sad would it be to be in a class where you feel like you can't ask the teacher for help? I was so sad for him at that moment and wondered if my fighting for this change was worth it. I really don't know if I did the right thing.

Please please please, Lord, let it work out to his benefit, not his detriment. *sigh*

Frustration . . .

If anybody even bothers to ever read this blog you'll realize that I let out a lot of frustrations here. Really it's to keep me from being too obnoxious to people in real life. I have a good life and am thankful for a lot of things. But sometimes I just need to vent! I'm going to do it now . . .

First blogger is acting weird so hopefully this post won't get lost. I was getting frustrated just trying to come here to let out some frustrations!

Another frustration is work related. We were told last month that we'd have an all day staff planning day on Monday the 15th. My kids don't have school that day, so dh took the day off. Today at staff meeting one of the other staff members says "oh, I forgot to put it on my calendar so I'm going camping that day." Well la de da! Must be nice to just decide you're doing something else and then make the rest of us have to change our plans!! So now we're meeting the 22nd instead and dh has to try and rearrange his schedule - which just is totally not fair to him if you ask me! Especially since I was being responsible and put it on my calendar! So that just kind of topped off my frustrations really.

My other frustration has to do with my friends. We all went out on Saturday for one friends b-day and had a pretty good time. But I realized that they don't see me as a friend so much as a mentor/snob/go to girl - I don't know, just not a pal to hang out and giggle and have fun with. Maybe I'm just not the giggle type. Who knows. But last night one of them called to ask me to go out with them tonight for margauritas and chips and salsa. Well, I'm not much of a drinker so I wouldn't go out without a designated driver, which means they probably were expecting me to drive. And not only that but really with my staff position at the church I just can't go out drinking and hanging out. Not to mention I've NEVER gone out to just drink and hang out. It's just not me. So it made me sad that they didn't consider at all the fact that really it's not something I would do or even could do in my position. The fact that they don't really know me well enough to know that I wasn't interested in their proposition at all was a little frustrating. I'm sure it's a lot my fault. I don't really trust people and I doubt too many people really know the true me. So maybe they really don't know that I wouldn't go with them.

So nothing major - just stuff that's nice to let out in the open somewhere rather than letting it fester inside.

Now I need to get ready for basketball practice. I'm going to try and talk to ds's teacher about switching classrooms today. I hope it's the right thing to do!!
