Sweet!!

My hubby that is - he's such a sweety. I am so blessed to have him. I had a horrible day yesterday and was pretty frustrated with life.

I came home to roses, chocolates, and even my favorite "odd pasta" (as he calls it) from Trader Joe's.

What more could a girl ask for???

Oh yea, update on Sick! post . . .

Turns out I really was sick! What do you know? heehee After coughing so hard that I almost threw up from not catching my breath I went ahead and buckled and called the doc - 4 prescriptions and a chest x-ray later and I'm feeling somewhat better.

Now I've got a killer headache which is probably a direct side effect of all this stupid medicine but at least the coughing is less. Although the 6 hour meds I was given work for about 3!! So hopefully they'll start working a little bit longer.

I'm about to start doubling up on the inhaler since at least it stops the coughing pretty quickly.

Never thought I'd be on an inhaler. Most of the rest of my family is on one and I was always happy to not be afflicted with an ailment that needed one! I'm just praying once I'm well that I won't ever need one again!

Sigh of Relief!!

So turns out DS wasn't as unruly as I thought he was. I heard second hand from the director and not from the teacher herself. So the teacher called (we're friends) and said that he listened right away when she told him to knock it off. I feel much better about his behavior but much more guilt about mine because I really told him off that night and he didn't deserve to be THAT told off.

Man being a Mom is hard. Sometimes I think I'm not really cut out for this job. What was God thinking giving me these kids? There are people out there with infinite patience who are much more understanding, compassionate, and loving and they have a hard time getting pregnant - while I get pregnant just thinking about it and am far from having understanding or much compassion. I do love my hooligans but I wonder if they think so!!

*sigh*

A Realization . . .

My kids are out of control. OK, mostly it's DS I think. He got in big trouble at church last night. He was just being an out of control pain in the you know where. How did this happen? What did I do wrong? I have major guilt - I've obviously done him some kind of disservice by not teaching him how to act appropriately. I'm so frustrated - is it too late to fix it? DD is usually really good in public but DS use to be too. So is she doomed to the same fate - teachers and other parents not wanting her around because she stirs up trouble?

I wish there was a magic potion to give them to turn them into the "yes ma'am, no ma'am" type of kids. But, alas, there is not. And really the "yes ma'am, no ma'am" type of kids drive me crazy. Maybe because I was that type of kid and it was because I was scared of my own shadow! I never spoke my mind or gave an opinion or said what I thought! (Maybe that's why I have so many of them now - opinions that is!)

I just hope my hooligans can confine their hooliganness to at home - why should other people have to put up with it?

Sick!!

Or so I think. I've been coughing for a while now. Took an antibiotic and it's done nothing for me. I guess I need to call the doc and be seen. I hate that. I already know what they'll say to me "yes, mrs xxxx, you have a cough, it'll go away eventually, you can take some robitussin if it's keeping you up at night." So why should I bother going? Then there's that little niggling in the very back of your brain that tells you "maybe, just maybe, this time there really is something the doctor needs to see you for." Yea right!!

So things are moving along here in Cali. DS got his homework for the week and man this is the most organized teacher I've ever seen. I like her - so far anyway!!

All of our other activities have started up too - AWANA, Bible study, basketball, ballet. The kids are begging to take karate. How does one go about finding the right karate studio? And to find classes that are back to back or at the same time for two kids who are in total different age groups sounds like it's going to make finding a dojo even that much more complicated. I guess I'm about to find out.

The kids are settling in to our new fall routine. So is DH. It's great now that DS goes to school later in the afternoons - I feel like I've got all the time in the world.

Although I'm feeling guilty about not helping out with PTO and other school things this year. I really don't know why I'm feeling guilty. I'm sure it's just because the other Mom's expected me to keep going and take over big projects. Life has changed though and it's not as easy as it was to take over projects for them. Besides that volunteering at a school is a thankless job! So I've taken on some bigger volunteer projects for the church - at least there people will usually say "hey, thanks for pitching in!" I really enjoy being busy - I was not cut out for the Beaver Cleaver roll of motherhood for sure!

Now if only I could have Mrs. Cleaver's attitude all the time that would be fine with me. I'm doing a lot of praying about that - I hate that I am short tempered and I see it starting to happen in my kids. I don't want that to be a legacy they get from me.

Alright, off to call the doctor. Or maybe not.

It's the most wonderful time of the year. . .

Have you seen that Staples commercial with that song and the man is buying school supplies for his kids. Cracks me up every year.

So that most wonderful time of year has come and the hooligans are back in school. DS and I are getting along much better now that we're not in each others hair every day. Heaven help me if the Lord ever wanted me to homeschool that boy. Could be quite an adventure! Public school it is for now - even though I've been trying to get DH to let me move DS to the local private school. Oh well, what can I do? Can't make that big of a change without hubby approval.

DD is loving preschool. She went from going 5 1/2 hours a week to going 12 hours a week. The 12 hours have been good for her - I think she's bored here at home with me.

I've been enjoying getting back into a routine. I love the laziness of summer but I also love the rigidness of having to be some place at some time.

I can't wait to see what the rest of this year brings!
