Heritage

DS has a "heritage" project to do - which he's known about all week and has chosen to just start right now. Of course, to do this project he mostly needs information out of ME. Unfortunately for him I don't feel like giving information right now. Or unfortunately for me I guess. :-(

OK, I think he has enough to do a decent job. We'll see.

I've been feeling "blah" again. I hate it. I just want to feel normal. You'd think with my eating healthier and exercising regularly that I would be feeling more rational. I'm just tired of not feeling like talking to anybody or relating to anybody. In fact, lately, I don't even really like anybody - including myself. It sucks.

Tonight is the 4th night of my exericse class. I'm really enjoying it I think. Although I'm so tired right now I'm kind of dreading going tonight. I know I'll be ok once I get there. I've lost 10 lbs and have another 33 to go. That's better than the 43 I had to lose when I started. I'm trying really hard to keep up with it - I know I'll feel better about myself when I don't feel like crap about my body. At least I hope that'll be the case.

Tomorrow afternoon we're going to a birthday party for my niece and nephew. Should be interesting since my sister has mostly avoided me for the last 4 years.

I've been going to PT for my knee for about a month. I don't know if it's helping or not. I guess there's nothing I can do for now but keep going.

I'm looking into vacation options - leaning towards hawaii since airfare is the cheapest to there. I've got to fit it in between a wedding and middle school orientation! That shouldn't be a problem but it's going to be a busy summer.

Off to put laundry in the dryer. Exciting life I lead!

MLK Day

Today we celebrate Martin Luther King - he had a dream and sadly sometimes I think people in other places in the world are still resisting that dream (even here in the United States I would say that is true). I'm happy that it seems like my kids are going to a school where they are exposed to all kinds of people and nobody seems to think twice about it. I see no prejudice at all in my kids and that makes me happy. In fact, dd told me the other day that all the kids in her class were the same (talking about their skin) - which is funny since there are polish, german, japanese, mexican, and middle eastern kids in her class - but they are all the same. It made my heart smile when she told me that. She actually was mad at me when I tried to tell her they were different. LOL!

We haven't done much with our extra day off - we bought a new table at Ikea yesterday - just a cheap one, it came with 4 chairs and it's WAY smaller than the previous table. I like it a lot. It's taking up so much less space - and it forced me to clean up in there. Not that it still couldn't use some work though!! We might actually all be able to sit at the table and eat together tonight since we can actually get to all 4 chairs now! But that's what I did with most of my day - built a table and 4 chairs and cleaned some. (There's still a TON of stuff to be done though!)

I managed to give myself a blood blister on my thumb - I think while building the table -it's very annoying!

I signed up for a fitness class that starts tomorrow - it's 2 hours a week for 8 weeks. We'll see if it helps at all. I lost 5 1/2 lbs the first week and only 1 1/2 lbs this week - it's still 7 lbs down. Yea me! Now I just have to keep it up - we have plans to eat in every night this week so that will be helpful.

Not much else going on. Time just marches on and life goes with it.

Mean Girls

Last night I went out to dinner with two friends - we've known each other for 10 years but one of them I've never met before. We had such a great time hanging out and chatting. What's funny is we all have daughters that are either in K or 1st grade. So we were talking about "mean girls."

Well my dd has been telling me "C is soooooo mean" since the first day of school practically. This morning I witnessed C, a 6 year old child, spewing venom out of her mouth. "Look at her blouse, it is so ugly. Did you see those trashy sweats she was wearing yesterday? She thinks she looks so cute but she's so ugly." etc etc etc I think my jaw was on the floor!! She was the living breathing personification of "mean girl." DD was standing next to me and just staring at her, so I looked down and said to her "wow, she is not being very nice at all is she?" DD just kind of muttered "yea." It made me so sad to think about my dd having to put up with bee yotches like that one.

I must have been so oblivious when I was a kid because I don't remember much of that - when I got to 10th grade there were a few girls like that who I just avoided because I didn't want anything to do with them. But I don't remember dealing with kids like that in 1st grade for pete's sake!!

Now I should get up and go do something. I was up until 1am, then had to get up at 5:30am to help out ds's friends Mom. (Long story for another time.) So I took the kids to school and helped out in 1st grade and then came home and slept for another hour and a half. Then made my lunch and ate and now I only have about 1/2 hour before I have to pick up dd.

My family won't be happy that I didn't go to the grocery store. And I haven't exercised yet either! DS has band this afternoon - my goal after getting dd is to at least get the house cleaned up this afternoon. Exercising after ds gets home from band, and then I'm determined to actually MAKE dinner tonight instead of getting fast food. I have 38lbs to lose by August when my sister is getting married - I will not be the fat bridesmaid in another wedding!

Pet Peeve of the Day

Ok, here's my pet peeve for today - people who interrupt others during a worship service at church.

I'm not sure why all these other people are going to church - because they're suppose to, because their spouses make them (although I suspect my dh goes because I make him, although he's a big boy and he doesn't have to go if he doesn't want to, I'm not responsible for his spiritual life I don't think, in fact Biblically it might be the other way around - I need a *shrugging icon* inserted here), because they've always gone, - I don't know.

But I go into the worship service on Sunday morning with the attitude that I am there to worship. So I like to close my eyes and think about the words we're singing, I like to be alone with my God, I like to look up the Scriptures the Pastor is using and see if I have notes that will expound on his preaching, or more often I like to leave myself notes about whatever he's preaching on.

So why when I am trying to enjoy my worship must everyone interrupt me. Do you have to hand me a picture while I'm closing my eyes praying, do you have to tell me your going to go help in such a such an area, do you have to tell me your kid likes yellow, or whatever other inane thing you have to report to me. Do you have to tell me all of these things in the middle of the worship service? Can nothing wait until AFTER the service is over? It's so rude. Don't interrupt me - I'm busy!

I think I might need to sit on the front row so people won't feel the need to approach me in the middle of the service!! Although dh will NEVER go for sitting closer to the front and I really do prefer to be WITH my family during the service.

I just was so frustrated this morning. I thought to myself "I need to find a church where nobody knows me so I can worship in peace!" Which is very sad - I'm on staff at this church and I love the people there and I want to worship with them - they are my extended family. But they won't let me worship in peace!!

aaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

OK, vent over the day. Back to your regularly scheduled posting.

Tomorrow I'm going to have dinner with a friend who I've known online for 10 years! She's in CA for work and is staying about an hour from my house. I can't pass up the opportunity to meet her face to face finally. She has a 10 year old dd and a 6 year old dd so we're living parallel lives on opposite sides of the country!! Speaking of which I need to call her and double check where we're meeting.

Sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite. (I never repeat the rest of that rhyme aloud for fear dd will think she actually has bed bugs - she use to have nightmares about spiders!)

Fencing, AWANA, and Camp

DS starts fencing again tonight. I think he's excited. But it's a bit of a schedule pain for us since we have to have dh leave work early to get him there at 6. I have to be at AWANA at 6. DH gets out of work at 6. *sigh* I hate having scheduling things that makes it seem like somebody is being inconvenienced. But ds really loves fencing and it's the only place I know of around here where you can do it. So we'll suffer through for a couple of months.

AWANA is starting up for the first time in a month. I'm a little bit excited about it - surprisingly since I've spent the last 3 months dreading Wednesday nights. Things are getting better though.

Took the church kids to camp over the weekend. It was fun - even though it rained all of Saturday so they didn't get to do all the fun activities that were planned. But it snowed all of Sunday morning so that made up for it.

It's weird for things to be slowly coming back to their regular schedules. I'm looking forward to it and dreading it all at the same time.

Oh and my sister is getting married. Tentatively scheduled for Aug. 16th - that gives me 8 months to lose 40lbs. I won't be fat in another wedding photo! I hope not anyway. I did manage to exercise this morning. And I've eaten 900 calories today. I need to look up and see what my max calories should be for a day to lose weight. I think it's 1500 but it might be 2000. It might be 1200 and then I'm screwed since I haven't had dinner yet.

Hopefully I'll keep exercising and hopefully I can lose 5-6lbs a month. We'll see.

Now I've got to try and get my kids to get homework done. I hate homework. DD's teacher asked me if I wanted her to stay after school on Monday and Tuesday to do homework with the other first grade teacher. I think it's a great idea but dd is not happy about the idea so we'll see. It's not worth it to have her go if she's just going to be pissy the whole time she's there and not manage to get anything done anyway.

No countdown today - I can't think of anything I want to be counting down!

Day Two!

It's the second day of January. I don't want to say I'm trying to blog more often this year because then I won't - but I would like to try, just because it's fun for me to go and look back on the year and see what we did and what was bugging me, what was fun, etc.

Today I went to work for a few hours. The kids had to go to daycare - dd was NOT thrilled about that. She got over it though. DS has a friend over this afternoon - this child has called several times over the Christmas break asking to come over, but he's loud and bothers dh so I didn't want dh to have to deal with him while he was off of work. Since he went back to work today I figured, might as well get it out of the way (having the kid over) - I'll be taking him home soon.

Then we're going shopping for jeans for the kids. Yippee - NOT! Skinny tall kids = no fun shopping for jeans!! Neither kid has any that fit though, so it's a must do for today! Tomorrow we're going to the house of mouse with a friend, and ds is going to camp on Friday so needs some jeans to help keep him warm!

I talked to my sister today - my nephew is now two weeks old and they are both doing well. She was making me laugh with her being up all night complaints - awwww, sweet memories. LOL! Glad they're just memories now! I like sleeping all night thank you very much!

She told me my Mom moved over the weekend - I guess my other sister and niece moved in with her, so they moved to a two bedroom apt. My sister's stalker boyfriend (thought to be ex, guess not) helped them move. It irritates me a bit that they called him to help rather than my dh and my BIL - why you wouldn't ask your actually family to help you is beyond me!! Whatever, they both are acting weird, now they can both act weird together!!

I still need to take the lights down outside, I'm just too lazy. I also want to do my walking dvd - again, laziness is taking over. Plus I don't want to do it while loud friend is here. Maybe I'll get to it this afternoon - hopefully!! I really do want to exercise and lose some weight this year. But I say that every year so we'll see!

Happy New Year!

It's 2008!! Wow. I remember being a kid and talking to friends about never making it to 2000 and how weird that would be if we even made it to 2000. Now it's 2008 - such innocence when you're 8. LOL!!

We didn't do much for the New Year. DS went to a friends to spend the night. So we took DD to see Enchanted - it was quite enchanting. ;-) Very cute movie I thought.

Then we came home and went to bed. Such excitement, huh?!?!

Today we took dd out to lunch and then went grocery shopping. Then I went for a run/walk - it's the first day of the new year after all, time to get back on the horse, so to speak!

Now dd is watching High School Musical 2 and ds still isn't home. I expect they'll be calling soon to bring him home. We're going to have chips and cheese dip for dinner - this will make ds happy. Dd not so much!

DH goes back to work tomorrow. I have to work tomorrow too, so we need to decide what to do with the hooligans - maybe daycare?!?! Thursday I think we'll go to the house of mouse for a few hours. Then Friday ds and I leave for winter camp for the weekend. Then Monday it's back to school.

DD has been asking to go back to school for the last week! LOL! Guess there's not enough excitement for her here.

Time to pick things up a little bit and put the cheese dip in the crockpot.

Happy New Year!! 365 days until 2009!
