Drama and Excitement

Should I start with the drama or the excitement? How about the drama - ds's baseball team is becoming drama central. These parents are mad at that parent, those parents are mad at the coach, the coach is oblivious, drama, drama, drama. They're NINE years old for pete's sake - relax!! The one good friend ds has on the team is probably quitting. It's going to be hard convincing ds to keep going if that happens. I'm not a "you may quit in the middle of the season" parent though, so he'll have to get over it. If he doesn't want to play next season that's fine but I think once you commit to a team you need to stick it out until it's over.

The excitement - I'm going to be an Auntie again!!!!!!!!! Wooooooohooooooooooooo!! I'm the only one in the family who knows right now. My sister is keeping it hush, hush because the rest of the family turns everything into attention getting drama for themselves. So she wants to just quietly enjoy it before the family makes it all about them - and they will. Time to go look for a "I Love My Auntie" bib or onesie or something. :-)

20 days until dd and I go on our first Mother/Daughter retreat. And there are only 45 days of school left!! WOW!!!!!!!! I'm going to have a 5th grader and a 1st grader soon!!

Where to begin?

It's been almost a month since I wrote anything here. A lot has happened. Had parent/teacher conferences for the kids. DD is doing good - needs speech therapy and should start receiving it soon. She's met all the standards for Kindergarten so she's officially ready for 1st grade. That means by the time 1st grade rolls around she'll be ready to go!

DS was an entirely different type of conference. The new teacher wants him evaluated for his "inattentiveness." So he's going to be "observed." Part of the problem is that he's more inattentive when he's bored so some of his extreme smartness shows up as ADD but I can't convince them of that - I've been trying for 5 years! We'll see once they make me have a meeting with them after the "observation." If they do decide he's "inattentive enough" to have an IEP I'm asking for NO homework!! ;-)

Well I was going to write a lot more but it's time to pick ds up from school!

Maybe later!
