Happy Thanksgiving!!

(blogger's getting trickier - just a small little link to let you not switch to the Beta version - can't full me! ;-) )

Hope you are all having a wonderful day!

I can't believe it's Thanksgiving already! We've managed to avoid the insane holiday meal and have to have dinner with friends only!! Well we did have breakfast with the family but it was painless, out some place, and actually fun!!

Leaving in 10 minutes for the friends house. I wish we could trade a good portion of our family in for friends - LOL!!

Gotta go pack up some games and get the kids shoes on.

Remember to be thankful!

Thinking out loud . . .

well kind of, typing "out loud" is more like it I guess.

I've been having some issues with the 6th graders at church - why don't we go to children's church? It's not fair! The 5th graders get to go! etc. etc. Now I'm having some issues with the 6th grade parents too - how come my child can't go to children's church? Not to mention the issues I'm having with those who are just showing up in different areas of the church in the name of "helping" and the parents are not making sure they're where they're suppose to be. I don't think 6th graders should be helping in chidren's church. I'm going to have to get strict about this to make it work.

So I think we have a solution but I'm not sure how to implement it or how to break it to the parents. Starting in Janurary only the 1-4 grades will go to children's church. The 5-6 will be required to stay in the big church. I will have to send a letter to all of these parents saying their children will be required to stay in church unless they have spoken to me about helping with the younger ones. (Like littler than 1st grade little!)

But that leaves a dilemna - I don't want the 5/6 feeling singled out or like there is nothing for them. So I'm leaning towards a once a month get together of some sort for just those two grades. But what? And when to do it? And how to make them excited about it. And how to not make them all mad that they need to stay in church!!!

So I like my solution but I'm not sure how to implement my solution. Suggestions welcome!

(Oh and I've got one worker who I think should not be helping any more - I want to ask her to quit but I'm not sure how well that will go over. I guess it's time to pray her out like I did with the last one who I thought needed to go! If that doesn't work I might have to actually ask her to leave. *sigh* )

35 days until Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!

New blogger - hmmm . . .

I've heard a few people say they used the beta version of blogger and didn't like it much. So now when I log in it's telling me my new version is ready - I'm afraid to take them up on their offer!!

Kids had Friday off of school for Veteran's Day - we had a nice, relaxing, chill out kind of day. Tomorrow it's back to the grind!!

Still haven't decided what to do for Turkey Day - MIL is asking again. *sigh* I'm assuming my family isn't doing anything since nobody's asked. I don't want to ask them and then them feel obligated to do it because I asked. That kind of happened last year and was annoying. I wish we had friends without family near by and then we could have them all over.

I never did write about parent/teacher conferences - they went well. DD is doing good. "Too social" I was told however. LOL! For a shy quiet kid to have that as her label is pretty stinking funny. DS is doing good too - all A's and B's. The teacher doesn't seem to be as willing to work with me this year so that's a bit frustrating. She's got the 2nd year jaded attitude now instead of the excited 1st year attitude. That and her class is CRAZY!! I wish there was something I could do to change how he's being schooled but I don't know what it is. *sigh*

Handbell rehearsals resumed recently - YEA!! I don't like that it takes me away from my family on Sunday afternoons but I really enjoy playing. We're learning a song to play for the Hanging of the Green service - that's always a fun night and it'll be fun to play. We've got two new choir members who are feeling a little lost. I feel for them. Last Christmas I was so stressed out about it - this year it's nice to kind of know what I'm doing - even if it is only kind of!!

What else is going on? Hmmmmm - not much I guess. Basketball starts in a few weeks. We'll see how that goes. I'm coaching dd's team - should be fun!! Time to stir dinner.

I guess boring news is better than no news.

Thanksgiving!!

Can you believe it? It's almost Thanksgiving!! Only a couple of more weeks. Goodness that time went fast.

MIL has asked us to come to her house for Turkey Day but I don't want to. They're not having a traditional dinner and I don't want that for my kids. I know that sounds ridiculous and shallow but I just don't. My side of the family hasn't asked us to do anything - not sure if they will or not. I've got a big family but at any one time at least one person isn't speaking to another so it never works out for us to get together for holidays and it not be a stressful thing.

I really want to spend a nice quiet family time together I think. Just the four or us - life has been so busy and family time is getting harder to come by. I think I'll see how dh feels about going somewhere for that weekend. The rest of the family won't like it but too bad.

On another note - Harvest Festival is done and over! It turned out great. Everybody had such a good time and said that the evening just flowed really well and they felt safe and their kids felt loved. It's all glory to God because I couldn't have done it myself. That and my partner who was just awesome - she did so much work. I really appreciated everything she did.

Yesterday we took the kids to the museum - those water park passes have come in handy. So far they've gotten us into Legoland for free and into the science museum for free - both of those carry a pretty hefty price tag. The kids enjoyed the museum - we all did!

I lost my voice- kids are quite amused by it. Come to think of it dh is amused too - I'm exhausted however. It is tiring not being able to use your voice!!

I've got a massive headache so I'm going to go lay down and watch tv and probably fall asleep. I know this post doesn't make a lot of sense - that's ok. I got out the stuff that was in my head for now.

Maybe tomorrow I can post about parent/teacher conferences last week.
