And it's over

Just like that another Christmas is over - and just as I thought, it went so fast and I barely got into it and hardly enjoyed it at all. *sigh* There's always next year. Today the tree is packed away along with all of the inside decorations. The lights are still up outside but they're not in my way so they can stay up for a couple of more days! ;-)

I think the kids had a good Christmas - hard to say. DD wanted the "Barbie House" -which she got and has played with quite a bit. DS wanted a Wii - which the family got and we've all played with quite a bit. It's a ton of fun!

Christmas with the parents was weird - although Christmas with my Dad is always the same. Food, presents, oldest sister being late and loud and obnoxious, gift of $$ from Dad, sweater from his wife, toys for the kids. Lather, rinse, repeat. That's ok - I don't mind it being predicatable, it's not less fun that way. Although we could probably do without the lateness and obnoxiousness one Christmas to make it a little bit more pleasant. I won't hold my breath!

My nephew was born one week before Christmas - he's a sweetie. I would love to go hang out and hold him but I'm trying not to bug my sister. I can't remember if people came over to my house or not after I had my kids. I know they did after having ds because I was in the hospital such a short amount of time. I don't remember with dd though. But him being born one week before Christmas through off everybody's rhythm and made my Mom act weird. We ended up having others here on Christmas day - which is no big deal, it's just not the quiet 4 of us Christmas we're use to. I missed having jut the four of us sit at the table for a quiet dinner.

We've not been doing much this week. Yesterday we went to the Nixon Library - that was interesting and a nice diversion in our week. The rest of the time we've just run errands or gone shopping to just kill time. Although shopping with ds is less than fun - he just wants everything and gets pissy when he doesn't get it. You'd think with it being Christmas week and all, he'd have gotten his fill of "stuff" - not so I guess!!

Today's pissy fit was over a puppy. A darn cute puppy, but not something we're ready to take on yet. Maybe sometime in the new year. I don't know - I've been thinkng about it but I'm not 100% ready to commit to it yet. Maybe if I could get back in my routine of walking so that I know he'd be getting out once a day. Right now I'm way too lazy to add more responsibilities - and dh doesn't want anything to do with it - well, he doesn't want EVERYTHING to do with it. I don't blame him.

So we're 2 days from the new year. Wonder what it will bring?

And time marches on

Only 11 more days until Christmas. Wow time is flying by. I still have quite a bit of shopping to do. I'm hoping hubby won't care if I go tonight and tomorrow by myself to get it done. It's just easier to not have everyone with me - I can run in and get what I want and get out. I've got a pretty good list of stuff needed so it shouldn't take too much longer.

This weekend is our party weekend - Saturday and Sunday night both. YEA! Two nights out without the hooligans! I don't remember the last time we went on a date - and I'm feeling it too. We were doing so good with the 10 great dates and going out every week - then school started and we're right back to our old habits of never going out. It sucks.

I've got an appt with another doctor next week for my knee. We'll see. I'm pretty sure I'm going to get a "don't know what's wrong" diagnosis with a "learn to live with it, take ibuprofen, exercise, blah blah blah" recommendation.

We finally got all of the decorations up and the tree put up. So once we get the shopping done it will be wrapping time and then it'll be over. It's going soooooooooooooooooooooo fast this year. It's going to be one of those "oops, it's over and I didn't really enjoy it much" types of Christmas years. I'm trying to remember to enjoy the time left but some times all the work of it makes it hard to enjoy. What a bah humbug I am today!!

Almost a month!!

Goodness it's been almost a month since I posted anything here. Hmmmm - what to tell. First my knee I guess - still hurting. Had an MRI - nothing's wrong according to the ortho. Great. Pain = nothing wrong. Hmmmmm. He thinks I need to see a rheumatologist - whatever. I'm not convinced it's some kind of disease, but he doesn't know what else it could be. *sigh*

This week I was throwing up again - I don't know if I had food poisoning again or what. I don't remember the last time I threw up - maybe 8 or 9 years ago and now I've thrown up/been sick to my stomach twice quite severly in the last month. Maybe I do have some kind of disease.

We had a nice Thanksgiving. We took the kids to Palm Springs for a change of scenery. We went to the ariel tram, the mall, saw Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium, went to the Air Museum, and the Living Desert. We ended up having a great, fun, relaxing weekend. And we all give Mr. Magorium's two thumbs up.

We're looking forward to Christmas - dh is off for 5 days in a row so that will be a nice break for all of us. I haven't had a chance to decorate yet though. :-( We just haven't been home, I was going to start on Tuesday and then I got sick and just couldn't do anything. It's suppose to start raining tonight and rain all day tomorrow so I should probably get off of here and at least try and get the outside lights up.

My sister and I are going to drive to San Diego tomorrow for an open casting call for the Amazing Race. I'd LOVE to be on that show more than anything in the world - unfortunately it's such a long shot that I should probably not hope too much. I don't even care about the $$ you win, earn, whatever. I just want to travel around the world - and it would be a lot of fun to do with my sister. I think we'd work well together and would make "good tv." ;-) DH thinks I'm crazy.

My other sister is pretending she had a baby - wow that sounds so crazy. It is crazy. She got extremely peeved because I called her on it. Whatever - I don't have time to deal with your drama, be straight up with me, and I'll be straight up with you. Of course, now she's peeved at the rest of the family too so they're not thrilled that I said something. Are we suppose to pretend that he's real when he isn't? Sometimes it would be easier to have no extended family!

I need to find babysitters for next weekend - we have two parties to go to and right now, no babysitters. I doubt anybody in my family will commit to doing it because the sister that really IS going to have a baby is due that weekend - so nobody is going to want to be stuck here with my kids when they'd rather be waiting at the hospital to see her kid. *sigh* I really should get on that though. I hate asking, because I hate being rejected.

OK, maybe I'll go look for some Christmas lights - we bought a ladder and the roses are trimmed so I should be able to get them up without too much difficulty.

Wish me luck!

19 Days until Christmas
