Another month gone by . . .

How does that happen? I can't believe a month has gone by since I posted last.

The kids are down to SIX days of school left!!! I'm soooooo happy that we are almost done fighting about homework - at least until September. But I'm a little nervous about them being home all the time - I have been so "blah" lately and that I'm afraid I'm just going to be a big grump and not want them here. Hopefully going to the foot doctor on Thursday to take care of my constant pain I've been in the last few months will improve my spirits.

I did manage to book our trip to Walt Disney World. I think I'm the only one who's excited about that fact though! I got us 7 nights, park hopper tickets, food and airfare for $2800. Not a bad deal I don't think. Hopefully everyone will have fun once we get there and they keep their complaining to a minimum!!

Not much else going on this summer. The boy child is going to camp in a couple of weeks and for the first time in a few years I'm not going with him. So the girl child and I are going to have a girly week. VBS is in the middle of July - I am running the games with the boy. I think it will be fun, although I'm kind of wishing I wouldn't have signed up to help. But it's too late now!

Other than that I need to figure some stuff out for us to do this summer - it's that or go crazy! ;-) Hopefully it warms up enough for the pool soon!!

6 more days of school.
78 days until we leave for Florida.

Nothing exciting

I haven't blogged in a month, but I really have nothing exciting to say. I'm still working on our Disney World plans - it seems to be getting cheaper by the day. I saw a package yesterday that included food too for less than $3,000 for the 4 of us. Now to see if the middle school can figure out their orientation day - I don't want to miss it. It's much easier for the boy child (and for myself as the volunteer coordinator) if I'm there. The school office seems to know nothing. I'm going to try the activities director next I think.

The kids are still driving me crazy. They are both spending hours every day doing homework - homework that shouldn't take more than 45 minutes TOTAL. Every day between 3pm and 6pm I think about running away from home. Thankfully, the thought ends when the kids finally finish the homework - whatever time that might be in a day!

Mother's Day is this Sunday and I'm not looking forward to it. I don't want to go spend time with my drama family. Maybe I'll tell hubby and kids we're going to D-land for the day, like it or not, and tell the drama part of the family we have plans. We'll see. Dealing with those idiots makes every single event in life be stressful rather than enjoyable! *sigh*

59 days until my birthday. 100+ before our vacation.

Spring Break 09

So it's Friday and spring break 09 is coming to a close. I'm happy and sad about that - sad that the kids will go back to school and homework battles will start again, and happy that the kids will go back to school and I'll get a few hours of peace again! LOL!

We had a pretty good week -we started out our week by driving to see a family member. We went to a mission and also an ostrich farm. The kids enjoyed feeding the emus and the ostriches.

We also went to Disneylad one day - we were even granted a "magic moment" while we were there and were escorted to the front of the line!

We went to the Getty Villa one day - small quaint little museum - we all enjoyed it.

Now it's Friday - I've got to get working on our taxes. I don't know why I've put it off so long - laziness I guess. At least I managed to run out and get the property taxes paid.

Easter is on Sunday and the Easter Bunny has not gone shopping yet. Hopefully she'll get to it tonight! We don't have any big plans for the day - probably will end up just having a quiet day at home. Fine with me - a little more quiet before the madness begins again! Only 9 1/2 more weeks until the kids are out of school for the summer!

Colorado, The President, and More

So two weekends ago hubby and I went to Colorado for the weekend. We flew out on Friday morning and came back on Monday night. I tried my hand at snowbaording - I'm definitely not a natural. I actually quit in the middle of the lesson because I couldn't take falling one more time. I tried again after lunch and made minimal progress. I will try again in the future! We also took a scenic snowcat tour up the mountain - that was fun and low key and came with gorgeous scenery! We decided to see a movie on the way to the airport - the only thing playing was Watchmen so we thought "what the heck." What the heck indeed! Strange movie. Way too long. Way too many rabbit trails and a little too much unnecessary gore. Then we came home to the craziness. It was very nice to spend the weekend just relaxing. It was a much needed rest for both of us I think.

Last week the girl child's school had their jog-a-thon. After last yeas debacle I was afraid of what would happen this year. Last year she absolutely refused to run one lap. She claimed she was scared of Wolfie - the mascot. So I made sure she knew it was a person in a costume and that the person in the costume this year was someone she knew and loved. So she high fived him as she ran by - 20 times! That's over 4 miles in 45 minutes! That's pretty darn good for 7 year old legs if you ask me. Not only that but she managed to do it without breaking a sweat!

Yesterday, I got up at 5am, got dressed, walked the dog and went and stood in line with hundreds of other people to try and get tickets to the President's town hall meeting that he's holding close to my home. Unfortunately based on some bad crowd control by the sheriff's department and a bit of bad luck, I didn't get anything for my time. Well, I did get a sunburn but that was about it!

Not much else going on here. I'd really like to take the kids to Disneyworld this summer. I'm working on making it happen. My sister said she'd come housesit and dogsit so that makes it easier to leave at least! I've got a travel agent working on trying to find us a deal - not sure if it'll happen since Disney extended their "buy 4 nights, get 3 nights free." It seems like it's harder to get a room. We'll see. We can always go later in the summer and get another kind of deal rather than that one.

Now I've got to go run some errands.

Only 109 more days until my birthday. And the kids only have 11 weeks left of school after this week!

Mini break

Next weekend we are managing to go on a mini vacation. Just hubby and I. We're going to Colorado - we're going to freeze our tushies off!

That's ok - we'll be doing it together with no children so that makes it not matter!

Only 10 more days! YEA!

Special degree

I think my 11 year old is earning a special degree in driving me bonkers. I'm going to be lucky to survive the next 7 year - or maybe he's going to be lucky? I have entered the "my Mom is an idiot and doesn't know anything" phase of my child's life. How annoying.

I think it's even more annoying because of once again feeling depressed and down. I don't know why I've been so blah lately. Maybe it's the lack of sunshine we've had? Maybe it's that the time of the month is just ending. I don't know - I'm ready to snap out of it though.

In other news - the girl child had lice two weeks ago and I'm still finding a nit here and there. It's quite annoying and I'm not sure what else to do aside from continually pulling them out. I'm praying it doesn't turn into anything worse.

The dog got bit by another dog at obedience class and had to have stitches in his foot. Thank goodness they are out now and we're back to regular life. Although he's scared to death to go to class and sits and shakes the entire hour. If he still acts that way tonight, I'm going to ask the instructor if we can move to the Wednesday class and see if he doesn't do better with the different energies that are there on that night.

Not much else is going on. I've been looking at vacation options for the summer. Plus I've been looking at weekend away options for hubby and I. I haven't figured anything out yet. Although I've seen a few deals to Colorado for hubby and I that would be nice.

Life just is hummig along. I haven't managed to get anything else cleaned out in this house - and I won't probably get anything done the next two weeks. I've got too much other stuff going on - and next week the kids are on early days for parent/teacher conferences. I hate early days!

145 days until my birthday. (As soon as I figure out some vacation days I'll start my countdown to those instead! Right now I don't have anything else to count down - I suppose I could count down to the last day of school - nah!)
